About Zero Degree Built-In Refrigeration
Zero Degree Built-In Refrigeration is an independent Sub-Zero refrigerator repair specialist serving Southern California, focused entirely on out-of-warranty units. Our technician is factory-trained on Sub-Zero, EPA 608 certified, and registered with the state — and we work a single marque, every series from the earliest built-ins to the current Classic line, so the depth runs deep.

What we do — and don't
One brand, in depth
We repair Sub-Zero refrigerators, freezers, ice makers, and wine storage — and nothing else. That single-brand focus is deliberate. A shop spread across a dozen makes sees a little of everything; we see Sub-Zero every day, across the whole lineage, and that builds a pattern recognition a generalist can't match. Dual Refrigeration behavior, the vacuum condenser, the magnetic door latch, the quirks of each series from the 200s to the current Classic — these are the things we work in and out of, week after week.
We focus on out-of-warranty units. Once a Sub-Zero is past its warranty, the factory's network is no longer the only sensible option, and an independent specialist usually means faster scheduling and lower cost on the same genuine OEM parts. What we don't do is claim a manufacturer status we don't hold: we are not factory-certified or factory-authorized, and we never imply otherwise. Here's the honest difference between certified and independent repair.
Credentials
What we hold, and what it means
Real, verifiable credentials — and a plain-English line on why each one matters.
- BHGS Reg. A49573 Registered with California's Bureau of Household Goods and Services, registration A49573 — the state body that oversees appliance repair businesses. It means we operate as an accountable, registered California company, not an unregistered handyman.
- EPA 608 Universal EPA Section 608 Universal certification — the federal credential required to legally handle the refrigerants inside a sealed system. Universal covers every refrigerant type, so we can properly recover and recharge any Sub-Zero circuit.
- Factory-trained, 12 yrs on Sub-Zero Factory-trained on Sub-Zero equipment, with twelve years working on the brand across every series. Factory-trained means trained on the manufacturer's equipment and methods — it is not the same as factory-certified or factory-authorized, a status we don't hold and don't claim.
- Genuine OEM parts We install genuine OEM parts matched to the specific cabinet rather than generic aftermarket substitutes, because on a Sub-Zero the gaskets, boards, and sealed-system parts are built for that unit.
How we work
Diagnostic-first, and honest about it
Every job starts with a real diagnosis. We rule out the cheap, common causes — a dust-fouled condenser, a tired fan, a worn seal — before the expensive ones, and we use Sub-Zero's Dual Refrigeration to narrow which system is at fault before anything is opened. On legacy cabinets we're upfront about parts availability before we commit.
We install genuine OEM parts, and we give an honest read on repair versus replace — including the rare times an old unit isn't worth the fix. We don't have a factory certification, and we don't pretend to. What we offer instead is focus and candor: one brand, done properly, with a straight answer before you spend.

About us
Questions about who we are
Are you affiliated with Sub-Zero?
No. We're an independent repair specialist, not affiliated with, authorized by, or certified by Sub-Zero. Our technician is factory-trained on the brand's equipment, which is a real distinction from factory-certified or factory-authorized status — we keep that line clear and never claim a status we don't hold.
Are your technicians certified?
We hold the credentials that matter for the work: EPA Section 608 Universal certification to handle refrigerants legally, and registration with California's Bureau of Household Goods and Services (A49573). Our technician is also factory-trained on Sub-Zero. What we are not is factory-certified or factory-authorized by Sub-Zero — that's a manufacturer program, and we don't claim it.
Do you only work on Sub-Zero?
Yes — Sub-Zero is all we do, and that focus is the point. Working a single brand across every series, current and legacy, builds the kind of pattern recognition that a general appliance shop spread across a dozen brands can't match. The depth is the value.
Do you repair both current and discontinued Sub-Zero models?
Yes. We service the current Classic, PRO, Designer, and integrated lines as well as the legacy built-ins — the BI, 600, 700, 500, and earlier series. Legacy cabinets are much of what we do; on the oldest units we're candid about parts availability before any work begins.
Where in Southern California do you work?
We cover Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties, plus Riverside and San Bernardino as a service area. Our coverage pages describe each county and city in detail.
How much does a repair cost?
We quote by symptom and model rather than a flat fee, and tell you the range before any work begins. Ranges are estimates (market average +35%); exact price confirmed on-site.
